We've probably covered it below! We've put together a super handy list of the most commonly asked questions, from shipping to sleeve care, and product stocking to PR.

The bookshop

We are located at 20 Church Road, Bebington Village, Wirral CH63 7PH

There is a huge free carpark behind the bookshop on Civic Way (part of Bebington Library).

The nearest train station is Port Sunlight, a 5min walk.

The nearest bus stop is opposite our door, on Church Road.

Our bookshop only accepts cards, Apple Pay etc. We also accept National Book Tokens. We do not accept cash.

Our opening hours are Tue-Sat 10-5, Sun 11-3. We are closed on Monday.

Please note that these may change as we near Christmas, so check back here or Instagram for updates.

Yes! Well behaved dogs welcome.

Please note that we do have some breakables at tail wagging height, if your doggo is especially excitable!

Yes! We have a sturdy rubber access ramp into the shop.

We have designed the shop to be wheelchair accessible and our central units are on castors if adjustments are needed.

We do however have two rolling ladders to enable us to reach the higher shelves - placement of these is not always ideal, but they can also be rolled out of the way!

Ordering + Shipping

Orders are packed and dispatched same day where possible (excluding pre-orders).

We always aim to ship orders as soon as possible, but sometimes if we have a high volume of orders in it may take a little longer.

Please note that pre-orders will of course dispatch around the date stated on the product page.

If you have ordered books, it may also be another day or two before this is dispatched, if it is something we need to order in for you.

We appreciate your patience if things ever do take a few days!

We accept debit cards, Paper + Word gift cards, PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Klarna and more!

NEW! We have recently moved from Royal Mail to DPD!

All orders are sent next day delivery (2pm order cut off), and are collected from us Tuesday-Friday.

We then use DPD next day delivery.

Yes! We ship to everywhere except the EU and Northern Ireland.

This is a recent change and we're heartbroken to have had to stop. You can read more about why and which countries are affected here.

Any orders outside of the UK may be subject to customs and handling fees. These are outlined and controlled by your own government and Paper and Word cannot waive or predict these potential additional costs, and are not liable to pay them (soz).

The only exception to this is the USA, as we collect tariffs and customs fees during the checkout and prepay these for you.

We accept returns in store, alternatively you can use our contact page form

Unfortunately it’s not possible to combine orders as we have no way to record this on our system. If it is essential that your orders are combined, they will need to be cancelled and placed again as one.

Yes! You'll find all of our book sleeves in the bookshop, along with a few extras!

All products are restocked regularly (except for our book sleeves which are all limited edition). You can set up a notification for a product on its page, so you will have an email the moment it’s back!

Pre-orders

You will be charged immediately upon ordering, not when the item is ready to dispatch.

Each book will state clearly on the listing when the publishing date is. Most of the time we will receive your book just before this date, ready to ship immediately.

However, sometimes we will receive it on or just after publication date. As soon as it is here, we will pack and ships it for you, or send you a collection notification!

Yes! We understand circumstances change, so s long as your item hasn't shipped yet you can email us to cancel hello@paperandword.com

Sleeves + care

Check out our super useful size guide!

The best way to clean your sleeves is to wipe with a damp cloth. We would not recommend putting them in the washer/dryer or ironing them as the wet heat makes the padding freak out a little.

New collections are planned on a monthly basis, but more often than not, a sleeve design won’t be restocked once sold out. To be the first to know if it ever is, sign up to the waitlist on the product page and you’ll be notified before we announce it on social media!

Collaborations, wholesale + PR

We are not currently able to offer customers any one-off custom sleeves.

We are not currently accepting trade/wholesale orders for our book sleeves.

Other questions

If you had an account with us on the old website (before 24th April 2024), you will need to create a new login! We were unable to move your accounts over as we changed hosting platforms.

A book sleeve is a padded fabric pocket used to prevent damage to books. Our book sleeves use a thick, soft padding to ensure book corners aren’t damaged when being pushed in. You can expect our book sleeves to be used over and over, for years to come!

Think of it as the big brass key that will unlock even more joy from the act of reading, with exclusive product access, behind the scenes opportunities, and a community of like-minded book lovers to fully nerd out with.
